The Women's Golf Association at Decatur Country Club is a congenial
group of ladies who enjoy playing golf together several (or more) times
each week. There is a wide but very compatible range of ages and
abilities. Some take the game very seriously, some take the game with
a grain of salt, but all have fun playing together.
We have
a large group of beginners who play each hole till they get frustrated
then pick up their ball and head to the next hole (or the 19th hole).
The DCC courrse is short enough for beginners to play easily from the
forward tees, and it is easy to walk the course for exercise and
fellowship while playing golf.
The WGA
has a playday every Wednesday morning, and many of our ladies play
every morning around 10:00 AM. The WGA sponsors the Women's Club
Championship and at least one member-guest tournament every year, in
addition to a number of smaller, less formal events.
The WGA
invites you to join us for fun, fellowship, good golf, exercise, and a
little sharing of Decatur's social news.
The objective of the Women's Golf Association is to develop interest in
golf among women of Decatur Country Club and promote a program of golf
and social activities for their enjoyment. We are a member of Women's
Alabama Golf Association, participate with five other North Alabama
clubs in Valley Golf competition.
The WGA meets for business and lunch on a regular basis and holds four
inter-club tournaments throughout the year, and offers an organized
Playday event once a week. We interact with our Golf Professional in
clinics, Pro-Lady events, and golfing outings to nearby clubs.
Any woman interested in the play of golf or the social aspects
associated with golf are invited to join the WGA.
