Capital Improvement Campaign

Many have voiced a desire to participate in the improvement of the Country Club, however, were not currently able to participate within the Class One A Memberships.

All is not lost…we have plenty of areas which require some much needed attention, and we have put a list together of areas in which an individual or group can participate in order to accelerate many needed capital improvements.

Many of our Members may have resources which can be utilized in order to facilitate many of these improvements – as well as being able to pool smaller increments of money to accomplish the improvements.  We welcome anyone who wishes to head a particular task, or provide any resource available.  Everyone has heard the old saying “it takes a village to raise a child” – well, it also takes a village to save the Club.  Many have stepped up in order to stabilize the financial posture of the Club, but we all can step up to assist in many areas that have suffered over the past few years due to the economic situation in which the Club has operated.

Please find below a list of items and their respective cost.  You may choose one in which to participate, or many…the choice is yours, and any/all help will be tremendously appreciated!

  • HVAC System Overhaul/Temperature Control System Replacement: $50,000 - $75,000
  • Formal Dining Room Chair Replacement: 70 Chairs @ $200 each - $14,000
  • Cart Path Repairs: $20,000
  • Plants and Landscaping: Physical Plant and Golf Course - $15,000
  • Extension of rear patio: $5,000
  • Exterior Painting: $20,000
  • Various pieces of new Kitchen Equipment: $10,000
  • New Ball Washer for Cart barn: $2,000
  • Various items needed for Tennis Courts: $5,000

As you can see – the above list comprises over $140,000 of improvements, and is by no means an exhaustive list.  It will take us a substantive amount of time to reserve the funds necessary to attack each area – so any area in which you wish to participate will assist us in bringing this Club back to the “Jewel of Decatur!”

Thanks to “ALL” for your support, and we look forward to working together over the coming year to help return The Decatur Country Club to her former glory!!

Please contact John Dupes, Chief Operating Officer of the Decatur Country Club, and let him know where and how you wish to participate.  He may be reached in the Business Office at any time, or simply pull him aside while you’re in the Club…he’ll be delighted to discuss any item at any time!!
